Young Scientists investigate the ‘outdoor classroom’ at Juniper Hall
Pupils of Athens class enjoyed a fabulous trip to Juniper Hall the first week back after the Easter break. Juniper Hall is located in Surrey and is an outdoor learning centre for students to discover, explore and understand the environment.
The glorious sun helped to switch on the investigating mood of our seven young scientists. Students got involved in a pond-dipping session and had a mini competition of who was going to catch the most newts as they were really fascinated by them. Once the dipping was done, the pupils took their findings back for inspection under the microscopes. There they chose their favourite creature and made a fact file for it.
The day also included meeting Angus the tortoise and feeding him dandelions as well as feeding four lovely pygmy goats; Clover, Treacle, Liquorice and Chives.
Thanks to all the staff on the trip and a big thank you to our benefactor, Mrs Peart
