World Mental Health Day 2021 – Transition Workshop

Carew Academy have been lucky to have been part of the NHS Mental Health Trailblazer in schools project for the past two years. Working alongside our school and to celebrate World Mental Health Day 2021, Dr Dlodlo, Counselling Psychologist and Kezia Ward, Educational Wellbeing Practitioner set up a two-part Transitions workshop for a year 11 class to support them with positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in relation to transitions. The group discussed their future plans; be it 6th form, College, or to join the army! The group discussed any anxieties they had around their future transitions, how they could address their anxieties, as well as practice a variety of self care strategies and techniques. The group found it really thought provoking and are now looking forward to visiting open days and evenings at local colleges to see what facilities and courses they have on offer.

Carew is an amazing school for our son, he now shines academically and his social skills are outstanding since being part of Carew.  Most of all they understand his needs and support him daily.
