World Book Day 2021

On Thursday 4th March, we celebrated World Book Day at Carew Academy. The staff and students all dressed as book characters. We had some wonderful costumes on show, ranging from the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, to Roald Dahl’s BFG, some Harry Potter characters and Hiccup in How to Train Your Dragon.

We celebrated the day in a variety of ways, both with our students learning remotely and those in school. Students entered a number of competitions throughout the day. For example, they guessed the staff members hiding behind the books and made some excellent book covers. Many students also entered ‘The Book With No Pictures’ competition and wrote some fantastic and hilarious texts. We also had a number of students and staff enter the ‘Reading in Unusual Places’ competition, which was wonderful to see!

We all had a fantastic World Book Day and reminded ourselves of our favourite books, as well as why it is important AND enjoyable to read!
