We’re Good with Outstanding!

Our recent Ofsted inspection awarded us a ‘Good’ rating overall with an ‘Outstanding’ judgement for pupils’ Behaviour and Safety.

This is our first Ofsted inspection since opening as a sponsored academy with Orchard Hill College Academy Trust in September 2013.

The report highlights the leadership of our “inspirational Principal”, Mr Prior, and his team which has led to the following judgements:

  • Teaching is good across the school
  • Pupils make good progress and standards are improving each year
  • Pupils’ behaviour, in lessons and around the school, is outstanding. They are excellent ambassadors for the school
  • The school has very good links with parents and carers

Mr Prior spoke about the result:

We are extremely proud of what we have achieved at Carew Academy in less than two years. The school has been transformed and is now a place where pupils are safe, achieve well and where they can have the high hopes for their future that they deserve. The pupils, families, staff and Academy Trust at Carew make an excellent team and this report is recognition for the commitment and dedication of everyone associated with the school. We are now looking forward to starting our journey to outstanding status.”

The Chief Executive of Orchard Hill Academy Trust, Dr Caroline Allen OBE, added:

It has been a very great privilege to witness the Principal and his team achieve an incredible transformation at Carew into a school which the pupils can talk about with pride.”

We will continue to strive for excellence working with our families, the local community and our local authority and partners.
