On 27th January, Carew Academy took park in a qualifying Surrey Schools Boccia Completion at Reigate College and entered 3 teams of 3 players.

After the Round Robin stage, the first semi-final was between the Carew A and B teams. Following a close match, Carew A managed a narrow win and got to the final. Carew B comprising of Riley, Billy and Kevin played Bensham A in the 3rd and 4th playoff place and were very unlucky to lose!

In the final, Carew A played a strong Ashcombe A team and in a nail biting last seconds won 5-4! The team comprised of Lacey-Mai as captain, Leo, and Luke and throughout the whole tournament did not lose a single game!

The Carew C team consisting of Tomos, Tayla and Ignas only lost 2 games and were unlucky not to make the other semi-final.

Out of 10 teams, Carew came 1st, 4th and 5th which was an excellent achievement. All in all a very satisfactory day for Carew and all the players…well done!

The Carew A team are now through to the Surrey Schools County Finals on March 10th at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford. The top 2 teams in this competition go forward to the Regional Finals later in the year.

Keep posted to find out how they do in March!
