Carew Academy is a Special Academy for pupils aged 7 – 18 with a wide range of ability levels and additional learning needs.
This section provides key information including how the school spends the funding it receives, its policies and procedures, students' progress and attainment, inspection information and the schools self-evaluation.
At Carew Academy students have access to a range of support and therapies that can enhance their educational experience with us.
At Carew Academy we want our students to feel a part of both the school and the wider community.
At Carew Academy we understand that parents/carers need to be involved in their children’s education.
Progress in reading for every student is a key focus at Carew Academy. Research tells us that reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success. It is therefore important for students to get as many opportunities to practise reading as possible, at school and at home.
At Carew Academy, we are building a reading for pleasure culture, with daily modelled reading in morning tutor times, student reading clubs (and a staff book club) and participation in reading events, such as World Book Day. We have put together a guide for parents and carers that is intended to support reading for pleasure at home.
