SSSSA Cricket

What a fantastic day – Carew Academy are SSSSA Champions!
Carew turned up to the SSSSA Cricket tournament full of excitement, ready for the challenge ahead. However even the pupils weren’t ready for what awaited them throughout the day. The first game of the competition saw England (National team given to Carew) go up against Pakistan, in what would be a very good start for the team in yellow. Taking the victory by 35runs.

Next we took on the favourites for the day West Indies (St Phillip’s) in what turned out to be the match of the day. Both teams going ahead and certain points in the game. St Phillip’s looked to have pull the win with two overs to go and 15 runs ahead of Carew. However, they weren’t expecting Brandon to take 3 wickets and go for 0 runs in his over to bring the scores level. For Blu to then take a wicket with the second to last ball of the game meaning Carew took the victory by 1 run.

After cruising to victory in our next game with a comfortable 75 run win; we were onto the final against the defending champions Wandle Valley, Carew got off to the best possible start with Blu hitting 7 sixes in 10 balls. With wickets falling at certain intervals, Carew posted a very competitive 244 to try and defend. Wandle Valley started to take control of the final, However, some very good bowling from Freddie, Brandon, George and Tom H, saw Carew take control back and eventually kept Wandle Valley to a respectable 230 runs. Carew came away with the victory and the trophy. They should all be very proud of themselves.

Carew is an amazing school for our son, he now shines academically and his social skills are outstanding since being part of Carew.  Most of all they understand his needs and support him daily.
