Maths Enterprise Fair

Last week we celebrated all things maths, culminating in our Annual Maths Enterprise Fair. The whole school was a hive of activity in preparation for the big day. The Hall was transformed into a marketplace and was packed full of stalls selling products that pupils had made, from dream catchers and charm keyrings, to original artwork and short stories.  Pupils welcomed parents and governors to join in the fun.  Director of Maths, Michael Wood, said: “Maths is an important part of our curriculum and we want our pupils to have opportunities to use their maths skills in real life settings. Every pupil in school had the chance to practise their buying and selling skills, deal appropriately with change, and practise their social, speech and language skills.”

Pupils selling the popular stress balls sold out within the first 30 minutes and ingeniously started a waiting list for new stock. One pupil, Louie said:  “I can’t believe we sold everything so quickly, it has been really fun having loads of customers and dealing with the money.”

It was a fantastic day, we made maths fun and in the process raised money for our class.
