Learning Outside the Classroom Week – A great success

By AnneMarie - May 1st, 2026 | Posted in Article

Our first whole‑school Learning Outside the Classroom Week was a fantastic success, with pupils across all year groups engaging in meaningful, practical learning beyond the four walls of the classroom. Subjects embraced active and experiential approaches, bringing the curriculum to life in creative and engaging ways.

In Maths, pupils explored number and shape through real‑world investigations around the site. English lessons made the most of the spring sunshine with outdoor reading sessions, while Art students produced striking photography inspired by paint splatter and movement. Science learning included hands‑on demonstrations of the solar system using inflatable models, as well as outdoor experiments showing physical and chemical changes.

The week highlighted how powerful learning through experience can be, supporting not only curriculum objectives but also key life skills such as independence, problem‑solving and collaboration. We are excited to build on this success as Learning Outside the Classroom continues to grow across the school.
