Heritage sign installed in St Mary’s churchyard

Carew Academy and the surrounding area is steeped in history particularly Carew Manor. Last year, our neighbours at St Mary’s Church hosted two successful events (in our hall) to raise funds for a sign to create greater awareness of the Orphan Memorial Stone in their Churchyard. The stone was dedicated to a number of girls who died while attending the Royal Female Orphanage at Carew Manor between 1866 – 1915.

Dr Philippa Mesiano, HF Activity Plan Coordinator at St Mary’s Church has been in touch to let us know that the new interpretation sign has now been installed in the churchyard and invites you to visit it.
