Students of Carew Academy have combined figures and fireworks for a special event on November 6.
Family, friends and supporters of the Academy are being invited to attend what is really an outdoor lesson that will really go with a bang!
As part of their work on practical literacy and numeracy, Year 11 pupils at the Academy have organised a fireworks display.
The literacy skills have been sharpened by students designing tickets and posters while the numeracy talents have been stretched as they researched and contacted caterers and fireworks companies.
But to bring it as close to real life for those involved students have had to fill out application forms and apply for jobs which will support the event on the night.
The event which starts at 7pm will also provide hot and cold food and beverages for sale.
John Prior, Principal said “I think this is an excellent project which has involved pupils and teachers. The fireworks display will further support our aim of making Carew Academy a significant part of the community but also help us to celebrate the success of all our students.
“This project teaches about safety, cost and value for money. We hope to see many people at the fireworks display on the night.”
