Developing a reading for pleasure culture at Carew

The Staff Book Club at Carew Academy have enjoyed some great reads recently and are starting to see the positive impact it is having on the whole school community. Research has shown that a staff book club helps cultivate a school-wide culture that values and celebrates reading. When teachers participate in a book club and share their excitement about reading, they act as positive role models. Posters around the school have created some lovely opportunities for book talk, especially with our older students. Students can see that reading is not just a learning task, but a source of enjoyment. We enjoy getting together, sharing our thoughts and discussing ideas for our next read.
