Christmas in the Community

Christmas cheer swept across Sutton today when students from The Link Secondary School, Carew Academy and Orchard Hill College performed in the atrium of the St Nicholas Centre. They were joined by Dr Caroline Allen OBE, Principal and CEO of Orchard Hill College & Academy Trust (OHC&AT), the Mayor and Mayoress of Sutton, Councillor Steve Cook and Mrs Pauline Cook and over a hundred spectators.

First to take centre stage were The Link Secondary School who accompanied by the ukulele, beautifully sang a medley of traditional, heart lifting Christmas songs. They were followed by three very dynamic performances by Carew Academy students who wowed the crowd with a “Stomp” inspired dance piece followed by a festive piece on the boom whackers and a Christmas hip-hop dance routine which had the crowds whooping and cheering.

Next up was a very emotive piano solo by Daniel from Orchard Hill College, he played so beautifully that many audience members were moved to tears. All students took to the stage for a spectacular finale, a roof raising rendition of “Last Christmas”!

It was a lovely way to bring the OHC&AT family together and share the joy of Christmas.
