Carew News – Student Led Initiative

By Clair Hill - October 4th, 2024 | Posted in Article

As part of an engaging English project, students at Carew took the initiative to create Carew News, a multimedia news platform that captured the dynamic spirit of the school. With an exciting mix of segments, students worked together to cover events, interview key figures, and provide updates on topics important to the school community.

Introduction

The project began with a warm and energetic introduction from the student team, setting the tone for what would be a comprehensive and insightful news experience. With topics ranging from local school developments to international sports, the project aimed to provide both informative and entertaining content for its viewers.

Euro 2024 Coverage & Student Predictions

One of the standout segments focused on the highly anticipated Euro 2024 football tournament. Students shared their predictions making for a fun and interactive segment.

Panega Arts Festival Coverage

Next, Carew News took us to the Panega Arts Festival, an event that celebrates creativity within the school. The segment featured exclusive interviews with Miss Emmett, the Head of Creative Arts, and Mr. Kearns, the Head Teacher. They discussed the unfortante cancellation of the festival. The interviews gave viewers valuable insights into the passion and hard work put in behind this important school event and when we can expect it’s return.

New Building Update: From Old to New

In an exciting development for the school, Carew News provided detailed coverage of the transition from the old school building to the new state-of-the-art facilities. Students offered updates on the construction progress and shared when they expect to move into the new space.

General Election Results

Rounding out the project was a timely report on the latest general election results, reflecting on their potential impact locally and nationally. Students discussed the election outcome with enthusiasm, offering commentary on what the results might mean for education and the future of young people in the community.

Through Carew News, students showcased their reporting, interviewing, and storytelling skills, delivering a creative and professional news project that covered school events and national topics alike. We are continuing Carew News as a lunch time club so stay tuned for more updates and future projects from a talented team!
