This week, three of our pupils started their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award journey. They spent five days in the Surrey countryside with pupils and staff from Sherwood Park School. It was a new challenge to complete a range of adventurous activities with a group of pupils they hadn’t met before. By the end of the residential, the group naturally helped each other throughout the day and with the activities. These included; Archery, Climbing, Kayaking, Low Ropes Challenge and Woodland Skills.
At the end of the experience, the pupils presented a summary of their week together, which was full of stories of challenges completed and fears conquered.
Quotes from the students:
‘It’s good that we have now officially started our Gold DofE. The best activities were the Archery, the walk and the crate stack challenge.’
‘The best bit was starting a fire with one stoke.’
