Ben in Tokyo Class gave a speech to his classmates to mark World Down Syndrome Day today.

“Dear Carew Academy,

I am going to talk to you about my Down Syndrome.

First, I am going to introduce myself – my name is Ben McKenzie Larkin and I am 16. When I was born I got Down Syndrome and I am going to tell you about my achievements and that I am a great swimmer. I will also tell you about my acting and what I have done in drama in the past. I will tell you about when you have Down Syndrome it is hard to learn sometimes.

I read books and listen to music. I love Wonka. You will know me from the Carew website – I dressed up as an Oompa Loompa on World Book Day!

I like learning in this school.

Thank you for celebrating World Down Syndrome Day.

Have a nice day! 🙂”
